At all times of day, there was activity in the Ignis Clan's training area. Several connected courtyards spanning a couple acres, even in the dead of night there was someone there practicing. Some courtyards were dedicated solely for hand-to-hand combat, others for target practice with guns and arrows. A small courtyard to one side was for sword training, and the largest courtyard in the middle was for elements only. That courtyard always had a master on hand at all times of the day, because fire's dangerous when it goes wrong.
That middle courtyard was where Taylor found himself that day. As far as Keepers went, he had good control on his element, and really if he wanted to pass the upcoming Knight evaluations then he would do better to focus on hand-to-hand combat. But Taylor wasn't even sure if he wanted to be a Knight. Maybe one day, but not just yet. He still had too much to learn, and he wasn't looking to be one of the younger Knights.
Watching a group of potential Keepers training with a Knight off to one side of the courtyard, Taylor set himself up at the other end. His lighter was already in one hand, thumb absently flicking the cap on and off. A small flame appeared, and he smirked as he transferred it to one hand. Once in his grasp, the flame grew larger, and larger still, watched by Taylor's careful eye.
Turning around, he threw the fire at a torch a few feet away. It burst into flame, the wood catching easily. Taylor let the fire grow, feeding it more while keeping it from catching on the torches to either side.
