Here are a list of the various clan ranks, and what it takes to reach them.
Clan Head
Description: The leader of the Seoul clan, in many cases a direct descendant of the founding clan member of the state.
Does it pay? Yes.
How can I be one? Clan heads are currently unplayable as muses. IC events may cause a PC to be elevated to Clan Head, with mod approval.
Clan Head Family
Description: Relatives of the Clan Head. This can include grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins, children, children of siblings, grandchildren, and grandchildren of siblings.
Does it pay? No.
Priests
Description: Priests are in charge of their deity's shrine, and in organizing events and celebrations for their favor. Good priests will have close ties with their deity, and are chosen by them. In rare occasions, a deity will choose someone without elemental abilities as priest. There is typically only three priests at one time.
Does it pay? Through donations and government support only.
Initiates
Description: Members of the temple who assist the priests. Though not hand-picked by their deities, they are considered to be in good standing. Initiates do not require elemental abilities.
Does it pay? No
Council Members
Description: Council members are elected by their clan to serve as their voice in both jurisdictional and national matters. They are led by the Head of Council, who is chosen by the Clan Head among the elected council members. Only those 21 and older are able to run for Council.
Does it pay? No.
Bodyguards
Description: Elementalists trained to protect and defend. Most commonly used by the Clan Head Families, bodyguards can also be hired by the wealthier members of society.
Does it pay? Yes.
How can I be one? Bodyguards assigned to other PCs require the player's approval. Bodyguards assigned to NPCs can be generally applied for.
Knights
Description: Elementalists trained in combat, with more experience and power than a Keeper. Their duty is primarily to defend their clan. Knights must pass annual trials to maintain their knighthood. With the city in a state of peace, Knights may be sent abroad for periods of time to aid their clan elsewhere. Keepers can be raised to Knight status after passing bi-annual evalutations. Only those 21 and over can take the evaluations.
Does it pay? Yes.
Keepers
Description: Elementalists trained in basic combat. Their duty is to promote peaceful settling of conflicts between clans, but they are able to deal with minor attacks. Keepers can be seen patrolling their territory and borders, and will also deal with situations such as theft, missing persons, and arson. They are the police of this world. Citizens can be raised to Keeper status after passing bi-annual evaluations. Only those 18 and over can take the evaluations.
Does it pay? Varies. New Keepers are taken in on a volunteer basis: those who decide to continue and make it their career put on the payroll after the first year.
Citizen
Description: Ordinary people in the clan, with or without elemental abilities. This is everyone else in the city, from bartenders to office workers to artists to students.
Does it pay? If you have a job, yes.

The Brotherhood of the Flame
The Brotherhood of the Flame, initially created as a fanatic religious group, has become an official combative force for the Ignis Clan. The Brotherhood employs skilled Keepers and Knights as well as unranked Citizens that wish to be a part of them. Only the best become Brothers and customarily consists of only males. Their main objective is to suppress hostile forces if it proves too much for Keepers and regular Knights. The Brotherhood doesn't have collective authoritative power, their members own Ranks giving them sway but they only answer to the Council and the Clan Head.
The Brotherhood of the Flame has a ranking system that only displays a member's experience within the faction. The Head Knight has the title of Black Knight, that being Richter Gates. Following that, the upper ranks are Senior Red Knight, Senior Red Brother and Junior Red Knight. There are also two Prefects, which rank below the Junior Red Knight but are still considered officer class; A Knight-Prefect and a Brother-Prefect. Those positions are open. They mainly deal with keeping their respective units in good condition and also works the intelligence system.
There are four other rankings; Red Knight, Red Brother, Recruit and Apprentice. The latter two are newbie status ranks that a member gains upon entry. Upon graduation, they'll be given an official rank. Red Knights focus more on physical combat and minoring in Elemental Control while Red Brothers focus on Elemental Control and minoring physical combat. Both are taught basic medical knowledge and general education. Red Knights are referred to as Sir "first name" and the Red Brothers are referred to as Brother "first name". However, the officers have their respective titles but then "last name" instead of first name.
