Clan
Clan: Ignis
Elementalist: Yes
Rank: Keeper
Power Level: Level Three
Allegiance: Taylor will go to great lengths to affirm his loyalty to his clan. He firmly believes in the Ignis Clan's superiority over others, and while he won't get into fights about it unless goaded, he makes sure others know it too.
Information Dump
Interests: Video games (particularly Starcraft), his cat Kkada
Job/Employment/Student: Finishing a bachelor degree in Criminology, employed part-time by the Keepers
Fears/phobias: Taylor can't swim, and houses a great fear for large bodies of water after nearly drowning as a teen. It makes him especially irritable towards Aquarions. He carries a set of matches with him at all times, and gets restless and stressed if he forgets them.
Talents: Taylor currently holds the National Keeper Record for holding a flame in his hands unprotected the longest. He is also fluent in both English and Korean.
Other: Taylor doesn't drink, ever. You've seen what alcohol does to fire, haven't you?
Personality: Taylor is generally a friendly guy, easy-going with good manners. The main problem is that those outside his clan rarely see that side of him, and he's gained a reputation outside of the Ignis Clan for being arrogant, aloof and overly prideful. He was brought up to think the Ignis Clan was the most superior clan and Suzaku the greatest deity, and will openly snub anyone who even hints otherwise. The worst offenders in his mind are Aquarions, his clan's natural opposite. While he might make snide remarks every now and then towards Aer and Terra Clan members, his attitude problem is tripled when it comes to the Aqua Clan.
He's been working on keeping himself out of trouble, as his career in the Keepers depends on not causing fights with other clans. So he has a better handle on himself than in the past, but he should still be viewed as a potential threat.
If you can get past his elitist problem (which is a lot easier when you're in the Ignis Clan), you'll find a big brother figure who takes new Keepers under his wing often. He takes his job and the safety of others seriously, and is always around to lend a hand to anyone who needs it.
History: Born in Busan under the Ignis Clan, Taylor lived in South Korea for the first ten years of his life. Since the only interclan hub was in distant Seoul, he grew up surrounded by his clan members and only knew the occasional outsider. Busan was notorious for it's poor treatment of Aquarions, and Taylor learned as he matured to despise them. All his friends were Ignis Clan, and the idea of other clans was a foreign, scary thing he wanted nothing to do with.
So when his family moved to New York when he was ten for his father's job, Taylor wasn't exactly happy. Yes, he had studied English and knew how to speak it. But the States were controlled by a foreign clan, and Ignissians only made up a rough quarter of those who lived in NYC itself. Many of those people didn't speak Korean.
The new, Korean kid didn't exactly fit in with those around him. Bullied at first, Taylor made friends with an older Ignissian kid who had basic elemental control. His new friend, Peter, took Taylor under his wing and taught him the ins and outs of the city. Peter wasn't friendly with the other clans either, and fostered that point of view in Taylor.
Peter was also a bad influence in many ways. Before long Taylor was running loose in the street with other Ignissian kids up to no good, setting fire to trash in Aqua territory alleys and heckling those who walked around with the water mark on their clothes. This behavior escalated until one day it ended abruptly. An older Aquarion had gotten fed up with their mischief, and knocked the whole group of five kids into the Harlem River. Taylor couldn't swim. He nearly died that day, except the same Aquarion saw there was one kid who couldn't swim to shore, and dove in to save him. Taylor was sixteen then.
Shortly after that scare, Taylor decided he'd had enough of running around causing mayhem. He drifted apart from Peter and his gang, making new friends elsewhere in the Ignis Clan. He learned not everyone in the clan was as bitter towards the other clans as Peter, and sought not to change his views, but to at least stop getting himself in trouble and prevent others from doing the same. He became interested in the Keepers that overlooked the city, believing there was opportunity there for him. He wasn't to the point of tolerating other clans: far from it. But maybe at least he could make the city a little safer, before any other Ignissian kids got themselves into near-death situations.
Roleplay
Other characters: Newp.
Sample:
"Okay, break it up."
Taylor elbowed his way to the center of the scuffle with his Keeper partner by his side. Some kids, the smarter ones, scattered at the sight of the Keeper uniforms. Others continued to jeer and call out "fight, fight!"
Two teens fought in the dirt, punching and kicking and pulling hair. There were scrapes, blood, and quite possibly broken teeth. Baton out, Taylor used it to lever one kid off the other. "I said move it!"
The teen turned around and swung a punch at him, Taylor blocking the blow and pushing the guy back into the dirt. Now that he had a good look at him, he saw the brawling teen had the Aqua Clan's mark stamped into the front of his shirt. Glancing over his shoulder, Taylor saw his partner was helping the other kid to his feet, who was looking much worse for wear than the Aquarion. Terran, from the patch on his tattered sleeve.
The fight officially over, the watchers scattered. "You're both coming with us," Taylor hauled the Aquarion to his feet. "Come on, move it."
"Bite me, firebug," sneered the Aquarion kid, struggling. "Useless Keepers."
"Useful enough to catch you, mangy water rat." Taylor pushed him to walk.
"Ease up, Tae," his partner said, the Terran kid walking beside him without complaint, head down.
"He's picking fights on our turf, I'm not going to go easy on him like the Aquarion softies," Taylor kept a sharp eye on the struggling kid. His partner sighed. At least Taylor hadn't nearly roasted the offender this time.
